• Pack out everything you pack in. Carry out all trash and food scraps. Do not feed wildlife. • Take plenty of drinking water and at least some food snacks. • Leave your trip itinerary with a friend or relative so you can be located in case of car trouble or other mishap. Start out with a full tank of gas. • Check with a ranger or other official for road and weather conditions. Exercise caution crossing all drainages and washes. Remember, unseen rain conditions upstream may still effect the drainage. • If hiking, be aware of flash flood potential, especially in narrow canyons. The slickrock country acts as a giant funnel and can direct large volumes of water into small drainages very quickly. • Leave the scenery as you find it. Do not write or carve on rocks; do not disturb plants or wildlife. Take only pictures; leave nothing behind.
